Whooper swans at our local reserve

We were pleased to sponsor the building of a viewpoint last year at our local wetland nature reserve in North Cave, just round the corner from St Helen’s Farm.

It may seem cold and bleak to us in these winter months, but of course to many migrating birds the UK is the destination of choice for a break from even harsher climates.

Over winter visitors to the reserve have been treated to whooper swans, wonderful Icelandic migrating birds who spend their winters here in the UK. Wading birds such as ruff, little egret and curlew have also been seen along with birds of prey that include peregrine and marsh harrier.
