Donation to Local Charities

Three Yorkshire charities received a surprise early Christmas present last week as we presented a combined donation of £104,600.

Market Weighton Autism Support Group, Snowball Plantation and York Mind were all invited into St Helen’s Farm to celebrate successful bids for funding from the business that each year gives all its profits to charities and good causes around the world through the Kavli Trust.

Market Weighton Autism Support Group, which aims to provide support to families before, during and after an autism spectrum condition (ASC) diagnosis at its regular support groups, received £44,100 towards a purpose-built, mobile van with equipment that the charity hopes will help reduce some of the isolation felt by ASC families.

Snowball Plantation was also surprised with a cheque for £33,500. Snowball Plantation is a wholly owned entity of the York Joint Scout Trust.  The plantation is run by a team of committed volunteers who have set out a vision ‘to create an amazing, authentic, Scouting experience in a natural woodland environment’. The Plantation aims to provide a safe environment where young people and adults can enjoy activities, nature and learning through adventure. The money donated will go towards equipment to upkeep the site.

Independent mental health charity, York Mind, was the final recipient of a donation. York Mind was formed in 2011 through the merger of local mental health charities York & District Mind and Our Celebration. It is federated to the national Mind charity, and works closely with other local Minds, of which there are currently 139 across England and Wales. York Mind received £25,000 so it can pilot a 12 month drop in service for young people aged 13-25 who are experiencing difficulties with their mental health.

We’re absolutely delighted to be able to present three very worthy causes with this donation. Giving back to charities and good causes is at the heart of everything we do here at St Helen’s Farm and supporting our local community is of paramount importance to us.

The new year is a time of transformation and we hope that our donations to these three very worthy causes helps them transform and continue to deliver the excellent services they provide. Seeing the difference we can make to our local community makes all of the hard work throughout the year so worthwhile.
